I had this development board for a while, unfortunately I did not have the change to bring int up until a few days ago, I was struggling getting development tools, sources, etc. Finally after some days I make it work, I gather all the files needed, including a RTOS, debugger and programmer.
I know some devs does not like Eclipse IDE, but some of us love it (well, sometimes), anyway, I will giving all instructions (with references, of course) how to bring up this board.
You can get this board from: http://mexico.newark.com/stmicroelectronics/stm32f4discovery/stm32-f4-series-discovery-kit/dp/87T3791?MER=ACC_N_L5_SemiconductorsToolsAndAccessories_None, it is not an expensive card to start with, also, in the same page you will find some expansion boards (I did not test them already, but I am planning to so soon). Also, there is another expansion board: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/free-shipping-STM32F4Discovery-motherboard-network-RS232-LCD-touch-SD-CAN-STM32-STM32F407VGT6/909797_583788921.html, I think it is not expensive and might worth get one, unfortunately, at this moment is not available.
I believe this is a powerful MCU to work with, also, is has plenty of peripherials to lots of stuff and an integrated USB port capable of doing USB OTG and USB DEVICE.
